The third set of nesting dolls - ocean theme. No overt fish. Seahorse is the closest it gets. Remaining pieces are lobster and coral. No varnish yet.
recently ventured into painting nesting dolls. What's most interesting to me is working within the shape three dimensionally. Working within a theme takes me back to college with children's book illustration. I plan to make a few more. But I expect I'll get bored with it or hit a wall at some point, as I tend to do.
Made a number of years ago, this painting of leaves was painted on eight 8" x 10" pieces of cardboard that were treated with gesso. The end result of the fragmented final pieces gave it a rustic look that was completely unintentional. Each leaf was given a lot of attention.
trying out crayons as a way to make me more comfortable with color. Not as confident as I once was. Starting small figuratives. Might stretch beyond.
Two canvases with the same image. The first one came out bad (not shown). Will try to tweak it or try on the second one.
There were fresh peas growing in the garden and we had been harvesting bunches of them. It was beautiful to open the pod and see such differently textured and shaded peas in there. I enjoyed the contrast. oils on board. approx. 8" x 3". Painted in one afternoon.
